It describes the morphology (appearance) and ecology (areas of occurrence) of the plants and also says something about the history and tradition of their use and importance for the early Norwegian diet. It also includes poisonous plants that are important to know. The compendium can serve as a reference book for anyone interested in edible plants from Norwegian nature. However, it is also intended as technical literature for a course on useful plants.
