TARANTULAS OF THE WORLD Vol. 2 Other families (2026)-François Teyssié
  • New

This book follows on from Tarantulas of the World , which deals with a single family of
Mygalomorphae, the Theraphosidae.
This second volume presents all the other Mygalomorph families across the world, that is to
say 30 families: Actinopodidae, Anamidae, Antrodiaetidae, Atracidae, Atypidae,
Barychelidae, Bemmeridae, Ctenizidae, Cyrtaucheniidae, Dipluridae, Entypesidae, Euagridae,
Euctenizidae, Halonoproctidae, Hexathelidae, Hexurellidae, Idiopidae, Ischnothelidae,
Macrothelidae, Mecicobothriidae, Megahexuridae, Microhexuridae, Microstigmatidae,
Migidae, Nemesidae, Paratropididae, Porrhothelidae, Pycnothelidae, Rhytidicolidae,
Stasimopidae.
The book gives a brief presentation of the morphology of Mygalomorphae with numerous
illustrations and a presentation of the different types of burrows. Each family is described
based on the most recent taxonomic information possible and using systematic keys to
subfamilies, genera and main species. The characteristics for all genera are detailed and
often illustrated. A list of identified species and their worldwide distribution, the ethology of
some remarkable genera and some in situ photographs of their biotopes and burrows are
also provided.
Some 200 illustrations shed light on more than 2,000 species. Nearly 300 species of spiders
are described and illustrated with photos.
A detailed introduction to the world of primitive spiders.
